Alphabetical List of My Favorite Books on Herbs

Many times through the years, I’ve been asked for a list of my favorite books on learning to use herbs, then later, to identify and wild harvest them. Although the list has changed quite a few times as I’ve found new books that I like better than old ones, some have remained consistent favorites. That would be this list.

Desert Wildflowers of North America by Taylor

**Edible & Medicinal Plants of the Rockies by Linda Kershaw

*Herb Syllabus by John R Christopher

*Herbal First Aid and Health Care by Kyle Christensen

Medicinal Herb Handbook: An herbal application guide for Novice and Clinician Through Simplified Herbal Remedy Descriptions by Feather Jones

*Medicinal Plants of the Mountain West by Michael Moore

Plants of the Rocky Mountains by Kershaw, et al

*School of Natural Healing by John R Christopher

**The Herb Walk by LeArta Moulton (out of print)

*The How To Herb Book by Velma Keith and Monteen Gordon (out of print so you may have to really dig to find it, but it will be well worth your time to do so!)

*These books, in my opinion, should be the foundation for the study of herbs and their uses

**These books, in my opinion, are the best for learning to identify and wildcraft medicinal herbs
